The importance of a good name

A Family name to be proud of.

A few people have asked if i'm back on Blogsville - the answer is NO!!  The reason why i posted my happy thoughts "I Sing..." is because I had heard some rumors that made me worried and think that someone (some loser ex of mine) had hacked into my account or remembered my log-in details and logged in.  But to my uttermost relief, my blog seemed to be intact but to be on the safe side I changed my log-in details.  Although, based on my traffic feeds, i have noticed frequest visits from people in:
  • Ibadan (they are constantly on my blog)
  • Enugu
  • Bromley
  • California (Palo Alto)
  • Texas (Dallas & Houston)
I can only say that I hope you've all found my blog entertaining.  ;) ;) ;)

I spoke to a friend this morning who said "A good name is more than silver & gold" and it got me thinking....... May we not do or say things that would put our parents and entire family to shame publicly.  And may we not be associated (knowingly or unknowingly) with people with bad names.

I remembered one Naija movie i watched that a guy wasn't allowed to marry the lady he loved because she didn't have a name.  I was a bit perplexed at first but as i continued watching the movie i later undestood it meant she didn't come from a wealthy/ affluent family.  Who is her father?  Apparently according to the mother of the guy, her son's girlfriend was not born by a rich and powerful man - meanwhile the woman herself came from abject poverty.  He went on to marry a lady with a 'name'; but as Naija movies roll - i'm sure you can guess how that ended.   LOL!!!  The lady he married came from a family with horrible skeletons and she herself was wayward.

Money and power are very important in our society; and the intense desire to acquire wealth, be known in the society, drive the latest SUV (Prado, Range, Highlander),  travel to Dubai, give birth to our children in Yankee etc. and have people respect us has overwhelmed us.  You hear different stories (of men especially) who engage in sex with other men, or do money rituals, or men targetting women who apparently have good 'stars/ glory' and stealing it from them through sexual intercourse, etc.  Women who use ungodly means to marry into a rich family or get pregnant for a rich man (turkey baseter style - LOL!!).

Anyway i dont even know what point i'm trying to get at but all of the actions i mentioned above - they will only end badly.  In shame.  Bad name.  Sour grapes for generations to come.  We should never cut corners or get our hands dirty in ungodly things in name of riches.  We should always remember our children and our decendants we leave behind - they will suffer the consequences of our actions.  We should be known for having integrity, for being God fearing, honest, righteous, wise, and hardworking.

A good name IS more than silver and gold.

Hey HoneyDame! Lol. Thanks for stopping by. To be honest I'm a fallen blogger so I really don't blog anymore.
